From time to time I get some very impressive cars through the shop. Many times I have no extra time in the day to document these cars, and always wish that I took the time to do so. I was lucky enough to be part of my customers super big build with the EFI tuning aspect. I headed into the shop last Friday (3/19/10) and thought I was tuning a stock Si with a Full Race Turbo Kit, but little did I know I was going to be greeted with a complete sleeper and insane build! The build list is long and impressive, but the overall installation quality and attention to detail was the most impressive. Anyone can buy good parts, but I often see poor installation work, and the car is not reliable as a result. This was certainly not the case with this car!
With the 2.2 liter displacement, ported head, larger cams and 9:1 compression I knew it was a potent combination to make some serious power. Off of the wastegate spring (~8-9 psi) the car made 450whp on 93 octane! I was floored to say the least. I bumped up the boost to 13 psi and the car made 535whp on 93 octane! I have never seen such an efficient set-up to date. We moved onto doing a 100 octane tune, and yielded 580whp at 18psi. The turbo was out of breath (backpressure induced).
