Follow Us For Regular Updates
It’s been super busy here so we haven’t had much time to put out full updates. As I’m sitting to write this the phone is ringing, orders are coming through, emails are filling the inbox, and the schedule is filling up. Spring is here, and there is no doubt about it, Evans Tuning is full swing into our busiest season of the year. With all of the hectic running around, filling orders, booking appointments, etc. going on – we still find time to update on a semi-regular basis in full fashion here on our blog. However, lately we’ve been able to utilize the convenience of simple updates on sites such as Facebook and Twitter. If you are not following us on either of these sites here are our links for Evans Tuning:

About a month ago we were able to get Jeff to start a Facebook and Twitter account for himself. Jeff posts more about what is going on at the shop than what is going on with Evans Tuning. You can follow him here:

24-Hour Tuning in Phoenix, AZ!
I’m frequently asked to travel to tune cars. There are other tuners that can easily pick up and travel to tune cars, but when you have a big shop (I mean square footage – it get’s expensive) with cars to constantly wrench on and tune, traveling is just out of the question! Geoff from Full-Race Motorsports has been asking me to make the trip to Phoenix, AZ for a while to retune his Nissan R14 (http://www.full-race.com/r14/) with the new fuel, turbo, and v-mount intercooler setup. As a personal favor to Geoff, I decided to bite the bullet and fly out there for a day. To justify leaving the shop for a trip to AZ, Geoff arranged for some local cars to be tuned as well. Besides Geoff’s R14, I had three 06+ Honda Civic Si’s to tune. Two of the Si’s were equipped with the new Full Race Stage 2 GT Kits (GT3076R), and the other Si had a CT Engineering Stage 2 Supercharger Kit. My flight plans gave me a solid 24 hours in Phoenix to get everything done, which I didnt think would turn into a tuning marathon… I was wrong!
Is Your Walbro Fuel Pump a Knock-Off?
Fuel-Pumps.net is reporting that they have information regarding knock-off Walbro fuel pumps. We believe these pumps are already knowingly being sold by some U.S. distributors. Externally the pumps are hard (if not impossible) to tell apart. Here are what the knock-off makers had to say:Hello, We just made GSS342 walbro printing pump for the moment, it’s engraving printing on the body, it’s exact same as Walbro. I will send u close pictures tomorrow. If u need GSS340/341 engraving, pls send me one sample, we can do that for you. Furthermore, pls confirm the pricing is: $**.**/pc. Since we need some risk funds, in case our local government found us making this pump, we can pay some money to solve this matter. Hope you can understand.
So if you are buying from a “reputable” company and getting a fuel pump for significantly less than any other company selling them, you can be sure it’s a knock-off. If you have already purchased one at “crazy pricing” we recommend returning it and buying a legitimate pump. These knock-off pumps have hardly undergone the in-depth testing that Walbro has done to ensure quality products. You only need it to fail once, and your motor is toast.

Appointments for Spring 2010 are Filling Fast!
Every year the timing is slightly different but when it happens, it happens incredibly fast. Tuning appointments are starting to go quickly with no signs of slowing. Currently we are only booked a bit over 2 weeks out (which really isn’t too bad considering previous years). However, we have booked 11 of these appointments in just 2 days. The phone has been ringing non-stop and I have just gotten a moment to sit and quickly update everyone on our current status. If you are planning to book an appointment in March, I would guess that there is only about a week or so left to get one.
Customer’s Del Sol featured in March edition Honda Tuning
If you picked up the March edition of Honda Tuning Magazine you’ve probably already seen the article on Geroge’s Del Sol. The Del Sol was tuned back in October 2009 and was one of the first few cars tuned at our new shop location. Thanks a lot for the exposure George. We enjoy having you as a customer and hope you keep the project alive for a long time.
Here is our mention in the article and the dynos from the tuning session are posted below along with the pictures from the article:

Sick Evo 8 Break-In Dyno Tune!
So as everyone knows, we primarily tune Honda/Acura cars, but dabble in pretty much everything/anything out there. Any given day I could be tuning a Subaru, Nissan, Toyota, injected domestic, etc. With the addition of the AWD dyno this past year we have slowly been getting more AWD cars in for tuning, including Evos. I have tuned a handful of Evos now with the OEM ECU “flashed” based tuning, as well as several AEM EMS equipped. A good customer of ours recently bought and built a low mileage Evo 8 with a serious set-up for street and track domination! A break-down of the set-up is as follows:Hondata S300 Price Reduction!
The best OBD-1 Honda/Acura EMS system just got even better as Hondata has decided to drop its pricing on the S300 from $590 to $490! All of our S300/tuning packages have been reduced in price, as well as S300 and S300 packages. If price kept you from looking at the S300 system, look again! We have S300′s in stock ready to ship!
