Two S2000′s surpass 700whp on stock blocks!

jeffdevosracegas2-1I have been tuning more and more forced induction S2000′s in this past year than anything else. Supercharged or turbo, people are starting to realize the huge power potential and fun factor of the Honda S2000′s. With price tags dropping below the $10,000 mark the affordability factor is there as well. I have been consistently pushing the stock F20C and F22C engines into the 500-600whp range on 93 octane reliably with a properly designed turbocharging system. Now that the bar has been raised as “what to expect”, these same pump gas monsters are starting to get tuned on racing fuel. Case in point 2 of our local customers with bone stock F20C engines using InlinePro 3mm thicker headgaskets (lowers compression to around 9:1) were just recently tuned on VP Racing Q16 race gas. The results are nothing but extraordinary!

1st Car:

  • Bone stock F20C with 3mm thicker headgasket
  • Lovefab manifold, Tial 44mm wg
  • Bullseye Power s366 .70 a/r t3
  • 3″ downpipe, 70mm exhaust (2 3/4″), no cat
  • ID 1000cc injectors, full blown twin walbro 255lph HP pumps, -10 a.n feed line, -8 a.n return lines
  • AEM EMS

Tuning was at 32 psi dropping to 29 psi:

I will update this blog with some track times once they become available. Both cars are still using the stock rears, driveshaft, axles and transmission so they will break very quickly. This kind of power goes to show the stout engineering Honda puts into their engines with the power output more than 4 times greater than stock!

They are easily capable of 9's, but wont run those e.t's with the stock drivetrain. They may be able to hit 10's, but the launch is going to have to be so soft to keep things together so who knows…

Whats the predicted ET’s on these cars?

Sick numbers on stock engines. Im looking into selling my built gsr daily and picking up an S2K my self and going turbo on stock motor. I like the results with the t3 s366. I was looking into the AFI manifold if they offer it with single WG and t3 flange. How do you like the new AEM vs going kpro with these car Jeff? If looking for 500whp would the 3mm headgasket be nessesary? also would the s366 be nessesary or something smaller? Id like to acheive 500whp on pump gas

  4. JeffJeff11-16-2009

The series 2 AEM EMS offers alot more features compared to Kpro, and is 100% plug and play. For the price there really is not comparison between the 2 systems. For 500whp on pump gas a 3mm gasket is needed. The s362, gt3582r, gt3076r, etc will all make 500whp on pump gas with good spool.

Thanks Jeff. What about as far as emissions goes? I would run the car through as soon as i get it and have two years but with an OBD2 here in CT they will only scan the car with obd2 scanner. they used to do that and if not readable they would put on rollers and sniff it but now if its not readable then they fail it immediatly. I thought i saw that the kpro offers the ability tio still scan with obd2 scanner is this ture? i know i can just slap in the stock ecu and injectors and o2 sensors and pass but id rather try and keep it scanable if thats possible. if not then oh well and AEM i will be buying. What does an S2K aem tune run these days?

  6. JeffJeff11-25-2009

Kpro will not pass emissions. When they scan the ecu is comes up as an RSX ecu, and will fail because of that. With kpro you have to change out so many sensors that you cannot just simply plug back in the OEM ecu and get emissions testing done, its several hours of work to put the car back to stock. AEM is the only plug and play option. A tune is 600.00 if the system is purchased through us.

That sounds like a great deal on the tune. Well im really hoping for a snowy winter to give me that extra couple thousand i need to pick my self up a nice s2000 with low miles. I will be going after an AP1. yeah i read all that stuff you have to change in order for it to work and that really turned me off right away because i figured i would have to change it all back in order to pass emissions on stock ecu vs lik eyou said the aem is unplug and plug in stock ecu and swap out injectors and call it a day. very quick and easy. I will be in contact with you if things work out and the s2k is purchased. Thanks for the info Jeff. always a big help.
